My new toy

Generally, I don't consider buying a new thing to be worthy of a post but this one is special.

No more hoping/coaxing our half-working mower to life in an attempt to even out the grass.

No more trips to the gas station so I can get the lawn done before the rain comes.

No more slow creeping across the lawn, staying in one spot for a bit so that the thick parts can get cut properly.

No more standing in the noxious mixed-gas exhaust that left me smelling like a refinery for hours on end.

No more worry about mowing in the evening because of the noise.

Here it is, my sharp new friend:

A reel mower that is pushed by hand

Aaaah yes, only a venture back to the technology of the 40's can help Liam achieve his goal of a healthy, trimmed lawn!

Hey, man, this thing has blades that sizzle. We're talking total grassassination!

If the blades actually sizzle, you have the most awesomest mower of all time.

Hey Liam,

does it actually cut decent? We had one when I was a kid, and you needed to go over the same piece of lawn a billion times and on the billionth + 1 it would still be cutting grass it'd missed the times before.

I want to get a non-gas, and preferably even non-powered, mower, but am worried about getting a piece of junk, like the one from my childhood...

I would imagine that, as long as you keep the blades sharp, it would be fine.

I haven't had any trouble with it. The guy I bought it from said it needs to be sharpened so I need to look into how to do that but it's behaved itself very well so far.

Also, I'm not picky about having the absolute perfect trim so if some blades escape the blades, I can live with it.
